Finalists Announced for Region’s Flagship Internship Awards Program

CLEVELAND – The Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) and Cleveland Business Connects (CBC) magazine are excited to announce finalists for The Expys, NOCHE’s flagship awards program to honor the best interns, supervisors, and internship programs in Northeast Ohio. NOCHE received hundreds of nominations in seven categories: best intern, best supervisor, best new internship, best small company internship, best large company internship, best college advisor, and coolest internship.

The Expys awards luncheon kicks off at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Windows on the River, and is open to the public. Tickets are $45 ($35 for NOCHE member schools and paid subscribers of CBC Magazine) and may be reserved online at Advance registration is recommended since tickets are expected to sell out prior to the event. “We are excited to continue the tradition of recognizing excellence in experiential learning because of the many high quality programs and the people who make them work,” NOCHE Associate Vice President Brenda Davis Smith said. “Internships and co-ops are becoming more and more important because they link classroom learning and the workplace.”

A panel of independent judges worked hard to review all of the nominations and select finalists in each category. The independent judges for 2016 are Elizabeth Newman (President/CEO, The Centers for Families and Children), Amy Kocian (Assistant Director, Southwest Community Health Foundation), Ronaye Steele (Deputy Director, Human Resources for Metropolitan Housing Authority), Coryn Simmons (Digital Marketing Manager, Hyatt Legal Plans), Michelle Mooney (Director, National Development Council), and Kim Milne (Project Manager, Global Corporate College). Winners will be revealed live at The Expys luncheon on April 20. “We greatly appreciate the time and expertise that the judges contribute to The Expys,” Davis Smith said.
