Corporate Event Venue of the Year (Non-Hotels) — Music Box Supper Club

Colleen and Mike Miller have enjoyed the best view of the ongoing Flats resurrection since opening the Music Box Supper Club in August of 2014. Immediately established as a concert and dining venue, the Music Box Supper Club excelled in 2015 on the corporate events front. Not surprisingly, the Millers and Corporate Events Coordinator Brittany Reye turned to their bread and butter — a quality sound system and food (not to mention the waterfront ambiance) — to attract organizations. Their concert capabilities allowed clients to easily access files, share presentations, and interact with their audiences while utilizing a sound quality that, according to the Millers, is “unlike any other in the city.” Included was an on-site engineer, A/V equipment, and wireless Internet. 1 EDI Source, a Solon-based software company, discovered the Music Box’s unique offerings at its annual holiday party in the upstairs concert hall. In what was a surprise to their employees, Poison singer Bret Michaels capped the event with a personal show. On the dining front, chef Dennis Devies and his staff found a balance that not only worked for restaurant goers but also for private events. A new menu boasted locally sourced, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan foods. Management also strived to dispel the belief that the West Bank was unsafe while providing valet parking and a private security team for events. Clients in 2015 included the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, American Greetings, Ernst & Young, COSE, Medical Mutual, IBM, MedWorks, Lubrizol, the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland Foodbank, AON, Kichler Lighting, RE/MAX, Progressive, Edward Jones, and Destination Cleveland. The Head and Neck Institute of the Cleveland Clinic held its annual residents dinner at the venue. “It turned out to be a fabulous venue, and people are still talking about it,” Anne Monreal, the institute’s program director, said. “In the 15 years that we have been doing this, it is the absolute first time that there were no problems with the roasts going off without any fussing with the equipment.”

Runners-up: Cleveland Museum of Natural History; Corporate College East; Landerhaven; Windows on the River.
