Corporate Sign and Banner Company of the Year — FastSigns Downtown Cleveland

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ trip to the NBA Finals last June proved to be a boon for the local corporate events industry. FastSigns Downtown Cleveland enjoyed the moment as much as any company, joining fellow event companies in Cleveland to rapidly transform the Music Box Supper Club from an intimate arts venue to sports central. One of ESPN’s shows, First Take, announced it would be taping and broadcasting shows from the Music Box. The show’s producers needed high-quality graphics that could stand up to the scrutiny of high-definition filming, although due to the nature of the venue — a music club with scheduled acts — they also needed set pieces that could be broken down and moved out after shooting was finished. Every piece was designed and installed by FastSigns in such a fashion that it could either be moved or it disappeared.

“The pace of the project was quick, but we’re FastSigns,” John Doyle, a member of FastSigns Cleveland’s sales team, said. “What helped the most was the great team of vendors and partners that we worked with. The creative team at GoMedia had the art designed and in our hands in about 24 hours. The Music Box Supper Club was as accommodating as any vendor could ask for, giving us access at all hours to install and position graphics for the team at ESPN. David Shimp, from Ghost Light Productions, helped with rigging the banners so that they could be hidden up in the rafters when ESPN wasn’t filming.”

Later that month FastSigns collaborated on a ceremony involving the renovation of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. “While banner drops are quite common for big reveal ceremonies, our clients were hoping to do something out of the box for this event,” President Kay Doyle said. “After brainstorming extensively and bouncing ideas back and forth, the final decision was made to create a ‘wall,’ which would be broken down using hammers to uncover the rendering of the new Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences building. After a few trial-and-error runs, our team was able to create a self-standing brick ‘wall,’ which we installed outdoors at the site prior to the kick-off celebration on June 29.”
