The Akron Art Museum named Bryan de Boer its new director of advancement. He will oversee the art museum’s fundraising efforts, membership, museum events, and visitor experience. He arrives from a successful tenure as development communications officer at The Orchestra.
“We are delighted to have Bryan join our staff at the art museum. He brings a commitment to collaborative and innovative efforts in fundraising that will help us to raise the bar on experiences that encourage philanthropy and involvement from arts supporters,” Akron Art Museum CEO and Executive Director Mark Masuoka said.
de Boer arrives with 20 years of professional experience with some of Northeast Ohio’s most recognizable organizations, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and Medical Mutual of Ohio. An expert in strategic planning, de Boer is a passionate advocate for arts and culture. He served the Cleveland Orchestra with fundraising campaigns that resulted in extraordinary philanthropic support.
“I’m looking forward to building awareness and leading fundraising efforts for the Akron Art Museum,” de Boer said. “The museum is a unique cultural asset to Northeast Ohio, and I’m excited to join the leadership team in collaboration with the board of directors and with its community of supporters to fully leverage all the art museum has to offer.”
A resident of Lakewood along with his wife Colleen and son Peter, de Boer actively participates in his community as past board president of LakewoodAlive, the city’s community development corporation, and adds his support to Lakewood Catholic Academy, St. Ignatius High School, Cleveland Leadership Center, and the Greater Cleveland YMCA.
