Of course, every season has its favorite trends, and when something is on trend, you can find more of it at every price point. So regardless of your budget, you can feel something warm and yummy on your body all season long. Here are some ideas:
For the dressy guys: You can’t beat a good cashmere topcoat. Perfect for over your suits and sport coats. Women can’t resist touching you! Top it off with a cashmere scarf in a rich plaid, paisley or solid to give a pop of color and energy near your face, as it touches you with cozy yet stylish warmth. Top it all off with a charming and classic gentlemen’s hat. Look for a classic Donegal tweed sport coat paired with a silk knit tie and silk pocket square that coordinates rather than matching. These are great textures to communicate confidence and style.
For the casual guys: Wool is a guy favorite — warm and touchable. Suede boots add a rugged texture. Many casual coats are weather proof, and I’ve been seeing great trim like leather and suede collars, cuffs and plackets. I’ve always been a fan of a man in a boiled wool vest — when paired up with a soft flannel and the right cologne, you’ll draw women to you. With so many vest options for men, you are sure to find just the right style. Choose what you like in pockets, fabrics, and trim selections; they’re offered at most retailers.
For the dressy ladies: Women tend to have a bit larger wardrobe of coats than most men. Women have more options for outerwear, such as wraps, capes, and long coats in wool, cashmere, faux fur, real fur, and everything in-between. This year we are seeing more of coats with embroidery, such as the cuffs on the camel coat pictured above. Faux fur scarves have been my personal favorite for a few fall and winter seasons now — I own a few. Wraps with the fringe detail are perfect for throwing over a suit when you are only walking from the car to a building. Pair up with leather or suede gloves and you have an elegant presence.
For the casual ladies: Bring the best “fall feelings” into your wardrobe. Color will always make you more memorable and energized. Do avoid the typical all-black coat that everyone has or at least punch it up. Be sure to “feel fall” this season by wearing fringe, suede, leather, cashmere, wool and embroidery and enjoy the benefits of looking smartly stylish while keeping warm.
So guys and gals, add something new to your outwear wardrobe this year and be sure it’s totally touchable and warm so everyone can “feel fall.”
