The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Greater Cleveland chapter honored the recipients of its annual Hill, Lighthouse and Young Awards. Recipients included Dr. Alex Johnson of Cuyahoga Community College; Wayne Hill, APR, of the University of Akron; and Gary Klasen of Eaton.
“Every year PRSA Greater Cleveland honors Northeast Ohio’s best executive, practitioner, and mentor for their commitment to and support of the public relations profession,” Katie Kennedy, president, PRSA Greater Cleveland, said. “These honorees are demonstrated leaders who have made significant contributions to nurturing young talent, and supporting and advancing our profession in the region. They deserve to be applauded.”
Johnson, the president of Tri-C, received the John W. Hill award, which is awarded annually to a Cleveland-area chief executive for outstanding understanding of and support for communications within their business or organization.
The Lighthouse Award, which honors senior PR professionals for their career accomplishments, was given to Hill, associate vice president and chief communications and marketing officer at the University of Akron.
Klasen, vice president of corporate communications at Eaton, was awarded the Davis Young Award for his work in mentoring students and young communications professionals through hands-on instruction and support.
PRSA Greater Cleveland Chapter is the professional organization that brings together public relations, communications and marketing practitioners throughout Northeast Ohio.
