Michelle is a co-founder of FIT and has served in many roles during the company’s history—from client services, to account management and operations. She currently focuses on marketing, business development and change management. She loves participating in the on-going transformation of the city and representing FIT at local events. Michelle is active in the neighborhoods in which she lives and works, fancies herself an arts patron, and doesn’t miss a chance to attend a gala whenever she can. She incorporates her commitment to fitness by leading the firm’s wellness program, is an avid runner and participant in many charitable races. Michelle is the board president of Plexus, the LGBT and Allied Chamber of Commerce and was involved for four years with the Gay Games as a board member and community liaison. She is engaged in committees for COSE and women’s business groups and serves as a speaker at regional and national conferences on workplace wellbeing, entrepreneurship, supplier diversity, and leadership.

LaShawn Reed-Kendricks, MBA is the Director of Corporate Relations for the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council where her responsibility is to connect corporate partners with minority business enterprises. LaShawn’s other experiences include working in both corporate and non-profit sectors. She is known best for her connectivity capabilities. She has a way of assessing where a person is and helping them connect to people or resources that will give them the solution to their problem. LaShawn earned her undergraduate degree in Business Management at Indiana Wesleyan University, she has a Master’s in Business Administration from Ursuline College and she also holds a Life and Health Insurance license in the state of Ohio. LaShawn is the Founder of Essentials 4 Success and Success Her Way. After many years of working in entrepreneurial support organizations, she finally embraced her passion of supporting women by helping them transition from working for someone to working for themselves. LaShawn stays motivated by recognizing that her talents are a gift from God and she shares them abundantly with women all over the world.

Shanelle Johnson
Director, Minority Business Enterprise; Certification Director, Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council

Shanelle Johnson, MBA is the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Certification Director for the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC), where she leads the certification team and oversees the certification process and outreach operations. In her role, she works with business owners to determine their NAICS Codes during the certification process. As an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the OMSDC certification team upholds the gold standard of certification. Before coming to OMSDC, Shanelle worked at the City of Cleveland in the Mayor’s Office of Equal Opportunity, for six years, where she certified small, minority, female, local and sustainable businesses. She also monitored City contracts for diversity and inclusion, most notably the $102 million Flats East Bank project.

John Renner
SBA Certification, U.S. Small Business Administration

John Renner manages the government contracting programs for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Cleveland District office and is responsible for coordination and marketing of SBA’s government contracting activities in 28 counties. These contracting programs include the HubZone, 8(a), Woman-Owned and Veteran-focused programs. Additionally, John is the office’s Veterans Business Representative. John has worked in the financial assistance, government contracting assistance and management and technical assistance areas of SBA during his 26 years with the agency and currently serves in an advisory capacity to numerous economic development organizations throughout Northern Ohio. John has a BSBA from Purdue University and has also owned two successful small businesses.
